1st 100m 5-SHOT -- POSP 8X42D**; VEPR II .223 RIFLE; SS109 BOSNIA
HERZEGOVINA AMMO

The 1st 100m 5-shot target was shot with the VEPR II .223 rifle basically laying on the rest without much hold down pressure; also, my shoulder wasn't placed against the buttstock (I was just playing around experimenting). With much mass (piston and bolt carrier) moving above the barrel centerline, for good accuracy AK type rifles really need to be held firmly in the rest and against the shooter's shoulder. OOPS, this is the POSP 8x42D diopter configured riflescope, and I shot this target without the diopter focused. 2-shot =2-1/4"; 3-shot = 2-3/4"; 4-shot = 4-3/4"; 5-shot = 5" The next (2nd 100m) group is tightened up considerably by holding the VEPR II tightly against the rest and should.
The POSP 8x42D** scope sits about 3.5" high and 5/8" left of the barrel centerline (this allows the iron sights to be used with the scope mounted). Although the 3.5" height is compensated for, the 5/8" left position is not. While aiming on the 1" red bulls-eye, I was planning on having the bullet land 5/8" right of bulls-eye so that this off-center distance wouldn't be amplified at further distances. However, I just hadn't yet got the setting correct while shooting the 1st and 2nd 100m targets.

2nd 100m 6-SHOT -- POSP 8X42D**; VEPR II .223 RIFLE; SS109
BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA AMMO
OOPS, this is the POSP 8x42D diopter configured riflescope, and I shot this target without the diopter focused.
This 2nd 100m 6-shot target was shot with the VEPR II .223 rifle held tightly against the rest and the shooter's shoulder. 4 shots were probably fairly representative of what this VEPR II rifle could shoot with the POSP 8x42D**. Shoots 5 & 6 were probably a bit off because my eye wasn't well-centered behind the scope. On some scopes I center my eye behind the scope by exceeding eye-relief and then centering the shrunken image on the glass, but because the rubber eyecup seems to block a portion of the outer edge at any one time, I couldn't employ this method. In bright light I could have centered the light halo seen in the image of the scope, but a totally overcast sky limited light enough to the point that a light halo wasn't seen in the image. Therefore, the 5 & 6 shots being significantly far out of the group was probably caused by my eye not being well-centered behind the scope. 2-shot = 5/8"; 3-shot = 1-1/4"; 4-shot = 1-1/2"; 5-shot = 3-7/8"; 6-shot = 8".
